Beech Tree Saved From Destruction

The fine old Copper Beech tree, believed to be more than 100 years old, has been saved from the developers axe. Proposals to install a roundabout at the junction of The Green & The Beeches to facilitate access to a proposed new development, would have meant the felling of the Copper Beech from which the road gets its name.
Pressure from the Heritage Society and the Parish Council with assistance from the trees officer at district council has led to a rethink of the junction.
It has now been agreed that the roundabout, which would  have been an environmental disaster for the conservation area, will not be neccessary and another access point will be created which will not affect the tree.
