New Willow For The Greens

Diary Dates

The heritage society has used the prize money won, in the volunteer trust competition  "Operation Springclean" last year, to fund the planting of a new tree on the Village Green by Patricks Lane.

The tree, a Willow, has been planted at the position where a Willow used to stand some 40 years ago at the top of the brook bank.

Chairman of the District Council, Tony Wilkinson wore his chain of office to attend the ceremony and helped by some enthusiastic children laid the first soil of the planting. The children present gave councillor Wilkinson an assurance they would look after the tree so it could be enjoyed by future generations in the community.

The Society would like to thank all members and friends who assisted on the day

The Heritage Society chose the brook area by Patricks Lane as it's project and invited members and friends to come along and help.
In the pouring rain 30 volunteers of all ages, children and adults, braved the elements to clean out the brook, the banks, and surrounding area.
Deanshanger was judged to have made the most significant improvement in its project from all the entrants in Northamptonshire and was awarded First Place and the Prize of £250.00
