Properties marked in Brown within the Red boundry line of the
conservation area are all included in the schedule 4 (2) directive. This
directive means that the houses are considered to be of significant historic
interest and that all alterations, however minor must have planning consent.
Applications for planning consent under these rules are free to the occupier
or owner of the property. The idea being to stop unsympathetic alterations,
such as plastic windows and
doors, and the removal of chimneys, for example.
In this way the local authority hope to enhance the historic
character of the area. As an aside consequence the value of property
in the conservation area should increase in value as sympethtic renovations
are undertaken and the property becomes more sought after. |
