In the name of god Amen the 8th day of February in the year of our lord one thousand five hundred nintye eight I Henry Ashbye of Castlethrupp in the Countie of Bucks yeoman being of good and perfect remembrance though sicke and diseased in body, do make and constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme as followeth first I give and bequeath my soul unto the handes of almighty god to abide in happinesse with his holy Angels and saintes for ever and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Castlethrupp neare unto my father Item I give and bequeath unto Amy my wife and Henry Ashby my sonne equally to be divided betwixt them both or iointly to be used of them together all my lande living leasures tenements and meadows pasture rents reversions houses goods and chattels whatsoever, which I am ceased and possessed of in an estate for tearm of years in Castlethrupp within the manner of Hanslopp To have hold occupy and enioy all the premises with all and singular the appurtenances during the natural life of the aforesaid Amy my wife provided always that if it fall out that the aforesaid Amy my wife shall mary hir self unto any man I will that she shall have only my household stuff and furniture, and all the rest of my goods and chattels lands and livings tenements with all and singular the appurtenances shall remayne wholily and entirely unto Henry Ashby my sonne and to his heirs for ever and shall be used and employed to the best beho..se and prophitt of my sonne afforsaid by his mother during the tyme of his childhoode until he come at yeare of descretion himself And of this my last will and testament I make constitute and appoint Amy Ashbye my wife aforesaid my full and sole executore to performe the same according to the tru tenoure therof and Thomas Nycoles and Barpo… Parratt my overseers to se this said will faithfully accomplished according to the meaning therof as my trust is in them to doe In witness hearof I Henry Ashby Testator have sett my hand the day and date abovewritten
